During the interview, Meghan refused to share the identity of who did make those comments about how dark Archie’s skin would be and “what that would mean or look like”, as she said such a revelation would be “very damaging” to the person in question. But in a post-interview segment on CBS This Morning Oprah said thatPrince Harry “did not share the identity with me but he wanted to make sure that I knew and, if I had an opportunity to share it, that it was not his grandmother nor his grandfather that were a part of those conversations.” So the question remains: who was it? A scenario in which we get an answer to that question remains unlikely, but the interview will have caused shockwaves throughout Buckingham Palace nonetheless. Oprah revealed that she and her team were tasked with editing over three hours of footage down to one hour and 25 minutes, with Oprah instructing them to focus on the main question: why did the Duke and Duchess of Sussex choose to distance themselves from the royal family? She said, “I think the stories about blindsiding the queen were very, very damaging to them and also hurtful because they understood very clearly that there had been months and months of preparation before they actually moved to Canada.” One of the interview’s ‘moments of truth’ came in a previously unseen clip that was aired this morning, in which Harry contradicted this narrative and said that he had previously written to the royal family expressing his and Meghan’s desire and desire to step back as senior royals. As for Harry’s relationship with his father—revealing that for a period of time Prince Charles stopped taking his calls—Oprah said, “You could feel his sadness. And I think what he said in the interview last night about continuing to work on mending that relationship is what he intends to do. “But, it is very sad.” Next up, Meghan Markle compares herself to Ariel in The Little Mermaid in Oprah Winfrey interview.
