There’s also Dr. Carson Shepherd (Paul Greene), who has been offered a prestigious fellowship at John Hopkins hospital in Baltimore. First, he wasn’t going to go, but then he was, and most recently he’s back at staying in Hope Valley to be with Faith (Andrea Brooks). Faith, too, has been wishy-washy in her desire to see Carson pursue his dreams but then feeling upset when he does. If Carson goes, will Faith follow him to Baltimore? If she doesn’t, will #TeamInfirmary be able to survive a long distance relationship?
Is Martin Cummins leaving When Calls the Heart?
Then there’s Henry Gowen played Martin Cummins (Riverdale, Away). Many fans have had a love-hate relationship with Henry Gowen. For many years, he was the villain on the show but over the past few seasons he has found a modicum of redemption through his own actions as well as the actions of others. Fans, known as #Henrigail shippers, favored a romantic relationship between him and Abigail Stanton (Lori Loughlin). Romance looked like it was about to blossom but fans were ultimately left disappointed when Abigail left Hope Valley to care for her ill mother back east. In reality, the character was written off the show due to Loughlin’s run-in with the law. Henrigail fans had reason to rejoice in the last few episodes when Henry mentioned Abigail by name as the woman who believed he could be a better man and gave him a reason to believe as well. In the most recent episode we learned that Henry and Abigail have been frequently corresponding while she has been absent from Hope Valley! Cummins, whose social media presence is almost solely on Instagram, recently posted an image of him and James Drew Dean, the actor who plays his son on the show. In the post he wrote, “This is a picture of the last year for Henry.” Fans wondered if it was a typo or if he was hinting at his departure from the show. The comments sparked outcries and pleas for Henry Gowen to stay in Hope Valley. Fans who hated Henry now have come to love him and his story of redemption. Speculation was made that if the actor was leaving the show then perhaps Henry might head back east to go after Abigail. While Hearties wouldn’t get to see it on screen, at least we’d know there was a happy ending in store for at least one couple on the show. In recent days, Cummins replied to his own post. It turns out it was a typo (perhaps that darn autocorrect function). In the comments he wrote, “Oh hey, yikes. Perhaps past year?” So alas, fans can rest assured (as far as we know anyway) that Henry isn’t leaving Hope Valley anytime soon. With all his mentions of Abigail recently, perhaps it’s opening up the possibility for Lori Loughlin to return to the show. At least, this Henrigail fan hopes so! As for the fate of Elizabeth’s two suitors as well as Carson and Faith, we’ll just have to wait for the remaining episodes of the season to see. Next, Where Is When Calls the Heart Filmed?
