The hit FOX culinary competition series Hell’s Kitchen is sizzling on the strip for season 19. The series, starring Chef Gordon Ramsay, makes an unprecedented move to Las Vegas bringing all the hoopla of Hell’s Kitchen to Sin City. For the first time in the show’s history, the cast and crew decamped to Las Vegas for season 19. The 18 top-notch chefs who range in age from 23-44 hail from all corners of the U.S. They get the added bonus this season of competing in Vegas, home to the world’s first Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen restaurant at Caesars Palace. All the trappings of Vegas aside, season 19 may be one for the record books. “Our chefs are very serious and have big, bold personalities and are a ton of fun,” says showrunner Kenny Rosen, who has been with Hell’s Kitchen since the first season. Also, being in Las Vegas, producers were able to access more Vegas-related rewards and punishments. Many locations in Caesar’s Palace were used so they could present fun things to do. “There’s an incredible camaraderie and definitely our most competitive final four that we’ve ever had on the show," Rosen tells Parade.com. “They are all big, bold characters who are rooting for each other and want one another to do well. A lot of them are never given an opportunity like this. “As far as I know, as far as reality television shows, it’s just the hardcore blue collar workers of America who are given a shot.” Also, audiences end up really caring about the chefs. Being on the show can be a game changer for chef-testants. For example, Christina Wilson who won season 10, has now become part of Gordon Ramsay’s empire in Las Vegas. “She is the sous chef on the show, is running all five of his restaurants in Las Vegas and helps with all of his restaurant openings around the world,” says Rosen. “Her career was launched by being on season 10. A lot of the chefs who won have gone on to do great things.”
What happened to Drew Tingley on Hell’s Kitchen?
Drew Tingley was about to give up on his culinary career when he was invited to be on Hell’s Kitchen. He proved to have a little less drive than some of the other chefs competing on season 19. He came across as clumsy and forgetful and was inconsistent in challenges and services. The line cook didn’t get the chance to really find his groove and shine. In week 5, he was forced to withdraw and leave the show due to a long-term health issue.
