According to a statement shared on the official Cuisinart website, Conair has voluntarily recalled over 66,000 Cuisinart Compact Blender & Juicer Extractor Combos–Model CBJ-450 over concerns that it poses a potential hazard for laceration injuries. The juice extractor, however, is unaffected and may continue to be used as per the release. The nut holding the blade assembly of the blender can reportedly loosen and detach from the base when in use, which the company said poses a laceration hazard if a consumer comes in contact with one of the exposed blades. There have been no reports of injuries, but at least three reports of incidents in which the blender blade detached during use. In one of those incidents, the blade perforated the blender container, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Conair, the parent company of Cuisinart, advised consumers to immediately stop using the recalled blender part of the device (the model number can be found on the bottom of the base and the original packaging) and contact the company for a free replacement blade assembly. Consumers will receive instructions on how to install the replacement blade correctly, and no special tools are needed. Cuisinart recommended that customers either fill out the recall registration form online or by calling the company toll-free at (877) 339-2534 between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. EST. Monday through Friday.
